Secure Agent Upgrades

With each periodic Overcast Server release and upgrade, a new version of the Secure Agent is released, but not every new Secure Agent release contains a functional change from a previous release.

The Secure Agent is a Microsoft Installer package (MSI) and supports in-place upgrades.

Latest release

If you are experiencing an issue with your current version and have been recommended to upgrade, you can obtain the latest release from the Overcast for Salesforce App, in the Settings tab, by selecting the Install Secure Agent button.

Upgrade steps

  1. Download and copy the installer file to the agent machine.
  2. Run the installer.
  3. Continue through the installer screens until installation is complete.
  4. Restart the machine, if prompted.
  5. Run a scenario as a test to ensure that your agent is connected and can receive requests.

Troubleshooting

Problem: When running as an administrator, the installer says that you do not have permission to install the service.

Cause: Sometimes the complete removal of a Windows Service fails or gets stuck and the Service remains.

Solution: Manually delete the service, and then reinstall.

  1. Open the Services window, find and open Overcast Secure Agent, and get the service name.
  2. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and enter the following command:
    sc delete <service name>
  3. Run the installer again.
