1.2 Set up a Secure Connection

Secure Agent

For Trial use, you will need to install Secure Agent. This ensures that secure and encrypted connections can be made to your backend system.

Note: For production use, we request that you set up a VPN connection. In order to use the VPN option, a VPN connection between the Overcast Server and your company network must be established. Please contact Vigience for details.

The Secure Agent currently supports connecting to the following backend systems.

The secure agent installation link is found in the Overcast Settings tab, Secure Agents section. Select Install Secure Agent.

 

Follow the instructions to save and open the file. Continue with the prompts until you reach the Installer screen below.


Install Secure Agent

  1. Start the installer, then Next.

 

  1. Change Secure Agent Name if necessary. Computer name is set as the default name. Select Next.

 

  1. Change the installation folder If necessary. Select Next.

 

  1. Select Install.

 

  1. After the installation completes, check Launch Secure Agent and select Finish.

 

  1. Secure Agent Application is launched.
     


Web Proxy 

Secure Agent supports connecting to the internet through a proxy.

If you need to connect to the internet through a proxy, you can use Proxy Configuration in Secure Agent window.

Check Use Proxy Server (1), and populate the information within the box (2). Select Save (3).

 

If Proxy Configuration in Secure Agent window is disabled, you can connect through a proxy by changing the Secure Agent Windows Service settings. Please see further documentation on Web Proxy here.
 



Register Secure Agent with Salesforce

Grant the Secure Agent access to your Salesforce org (via OAuth).

 

  1. Select the same overcast endpoint to match what you selected in the Overcast setting in your org at step "1.1 install and configure overcast app".
  2. Select the Salesforce Environment. Choose "Production" for Production and Developer Edition, and "Sandbox" for Sandbox. 

    Choose custom domain if your org has the My Domain policy "Prevent login from https://login.salesforce.com" enabled.

    Copy the domain from the My Domain page (case-sensitive). The domain from the browser address bar does not permit logins from applications.

  3. Click Register with Salesforce

Salesforce login page is opened in your browser. Login to Salesforce with your Salesforce username and password.
 

Click Allow to access from Secure Agent and Overcast Server


 

Go to the Settings tab for Overcast in your Salesforce organization. Confirm that the Secure Agent record is displayed under Secure Agents and the status is green.

 

After registration is completed successfully, Connection State in Secure Agent shows “Online”.
